Align Credit Union Membership Expansion:

ALIGN CREDIT UNION, Lowell, Massachusetts has petitioned the Commissioner of Banks for permission to amend its by-laws pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws chapter 171, section 10 to expand the associations which qualify persons for membership. The amendment proposes to expand membership eligibility to include those who live, work, or attend school within the following Massachusetts municipalities: Ashburnham, Auburn, Fitchburg, Gardner, Holden, Hubbardston, Leicester, Leominster, Lunenburg, Millbury, Oxford, Paxton, Princeton, Sterling, Sutton, Templeton, West Boylston, Westminster, Winchendon, and Worcester. Any objections or comments relative to this proposal must be communicated in writing to the Commissioner of Banks, One Federal Street, Suite 710, Boston, Massachusetts 02110 or via electronic mail to dob.comments@mass.gov no later than July 24, 2026. A public hearing may be held if the response is considered significant or circumstances warrant such a hearing, as determined by the Commissioner. **The rate will be set on the 1st business day of each month which will be either a floor rate of 6.00% APR with a daily periodic rate of 0.01643836, or Prime Rate (as published in the Wall Street Journal on the first day of each month, whichever is greater.  Current Prime rate is 7.00% . APR is 7.50% with a daily periodic rate of 0.02054795. Maximum APR is 18%. Floor rate is 6.00%. Draw period is 10 years with 10 additional years to repay. Loan must be first or second lien position. Actual rate and margin offered may be adjusted based on credit history and other factors - this may result in a higher rate than our published rate. Equity determined by taking 80% of property value and deducting the balance of any mortgages. If appraisal is required, the charge will range from $475 to $700. The minimum loan amount is $10,000 and the maximum is $400,000. Property insurance required. Rate subject to change after consummation. All closing costs are paid by the borrower.  The fee will range from $1279.49 to $2882.29, which includes $700.00 Origination Fee to Align Credit Union. All others will be determined based upon the fees incurred by Align Credit Union during the processing and consummation of the HELOC. Align members must maintain a $5 deposit relationship.
